About Netra Halperin

Netra Halperin, MA: Maui County Council Candidate - Kahului I have called Maui my home for the last twenty years. During this time I have worked as a child and family therapist for Aloha House, Maui Youth and Family Services, and Women Helping Women. Additionally, I have consulted and owned businesses in the construction, development, real estate and tourism industries. I am presently providing counseling for children through my business “Child's Play Psychotherapy” in downtown Wailuku.

I received a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from San Francisco State University and a Master's degree in Psychology from Antioch University. I am excited for the future of Maui County. I see an opportunity for all residents to come together to make Maui the model of a sustainable, clean land. I see Maui becoming the prototype community; a place where respective cultures learn from each other; where pollution, ice abuse and crime are a thing of the past, where housing is affordable and families are supported.

I am committed to using my education, experience and mana’o for finding creative solutions to the issues facing Maui County. I believe there is enough money, natural resources and technology to have a community that thrives on all levels.
I feel that a wise lawmaker knows when to fight for the community and when to assist and work with others, utilizing their talents to get things accomplished. This is my intention as I serve Maui’s land and people as Councilwoman.
